Nature is waking up, and with it, our craving for beauty is waking up. Over the long winter, we managed to wean ourselves from bright colors, and now, when spring is gradually coming into its own, we begin to think about updating. So, all the rubbish is thrown away, the winter things are put away, and we are ready to throw open the windows so that fresh air bursts into the rooms. So, it’s time to make the interior a little more spring. How – we’ll tell you about it.
Today, we will guide you through… Your very own living and dining room. And to be more precise, we will tell you how to decorate standard rooms with springs ease. And it is not at all difficult and not expensive – add a few interesting details, and you will immediately feel how it has become easier to breathe. Are you ready to let the breath of spring into your home? Then – let’s start!
- First, you will see, using a real example, how we added a spring atmosphere to an ordinary living-dining room. And will tell you how managed to do it.
- The second section is a checklist of 3 simple elements to achieve spring lightness in the interior.
1. Spring palette is dotted color accents on a light, fresh background
Colors of spring flowers and blooming gardens, delicate greenery, and clear skies. Just a few drops of color are enough to feel how the interior changes before your eyes.
What tones should you pay attention to? Soft cream and vanilla yellow, raspberry pink and fresh green, azure blue, and rich purple
Use these shades in textiles (pillows), glass (bottles, vases), bouquets, and candle decor. It looks imposing in the interior, with many translucent neutral surfaces – white, beige, ivory.
2. Bouquets of spring flowers with a touch of country
You have probably seen bouquets of roses decorated with Gypsophila sprigs on sale. Why don’t you take advantage of this simple trick?
Graceful white flowers will bring spring charm to any bouquet. Add Gypsophila to simple garden flower bouquets (tulips, roses, peonies), place them in simple glass vases or even jars, and then place the vases in wicker baskets on a coffee table or chest of drawers.
3. There are never too many flowers!
Decorate the whole house with them – not only fresh, but drawings are also suitable. For example, as here: pillows + a fragrant bouquet in a jug + a porcelain cup painted with roses and peonies.
Pay attention to the harmonious combination of these three pillows made of different fabrics – isn’t it an exquisite picture in the spirit of Laura Ashley?
4. A drop of decorative curtains
Are you looking forward to the heat when butterflies flutter over the flowers? Winged beauties will not come soon, but they may appear in your house right now.
Transform the most ordinary curtains with a butterfly garland. Just imagine how their wings will flutter under the spring breeze. Cut out the butterflies using a stencil and hang them on a fishing line or a rope with a weight at the bottom.
5. Pillows like a spring garden
Pillows with butterflies will brighten up the expectation of warm days and will undoubtedly cheer you up. Buy these covers or make an original pillow yourself. You do not require to sew or embroider – the same colored paper butterflies are enough.
Sew them to a plain pillow – and admire! It looks incredibly chic against a piercing azure background, reminiscent of the sky. If you like the French style, get the pads with prints and inscriptions on a linen background in a natural tone.
6. Spring vintage for candles
Candles will bring warmth into the house, which is desirable in anticipation of spring. Do you want unique comfort? Take small colored candles (or make your own in glass jars) and assembles them into a pretty composition on a wicker tray. Decorate the tray with fragrant twigs and the edges of the candlesticks with colored paper butterflies.
7. Dining table like a blooming garden
And here is another interesting decorative move. We have use cushions for chairs and napkins with the same pattern – peonies on a white background. An excellent and inexpensive way to freshen up a dining room or kitchen with a dining table in the spring.
8. Timid steps of spring
Add bright accents gradually – after all, our eyes have become unaccustomed to the abundance of colors during the winter. Start simple, for example, from decorative bottles and colored glass vases. They will enliven the interior on their own and make beautiful vases for spring flowers.
In this design, even the most modest flowers will look amazing. For example, these Gypsophila and delicate peonies have not yet blossomed.
9. Shades of the spring sky
We offer a color combination reminiscent of spring – white with pale blue. And it is no coincidence because we see these colors first when nature awakens from hibernation. Blue is the color of a serene spring sky; white is melted snow and clouds.
This duet is most effective in small proportions: for festive dishes. A blue napkin with white polka dots a blue cup or bowl against the background of white plates is a universal solution for breakfast, family dinner, and a holiday.
10. Tiny hearth
Making exquisite table decorations is a lot easier than you think. As a basis, take a wide glass jar with thick walls. Wrap the neck with a rope decorate the walls with multi-colored paper butterflies (glue them or fasten them on a thread). Put a heating candle inside and gather your friends for tea!
You have probably noticed how much “lyricism” is in a decorator’s ideas. And this is quite understandable – spring has a romantic perception of the world. Lyrics like this are easy to inspire, but harder to repeat.
Therefore, here are three main principles that will help you in updating the interior with a touch of spring lightness (take them into the piggy bank of ideas to create such an atmosphere in your home):
11. Choose natural fabrics’
Light cotton and linen in a combination of different patterns (stripes, flowers, geometry) – that’s what you need to feel spring. So your interior will always look fresh and discreet.
12. Actively add flowers
What can decorate a spring interior better than flowers? Flowers can be anything: natural, fabric, in pots, or bouquets. Flowering branches in large vases will look incredibly chic.
13. Do not forget that the details create the atmosphere
Romantic candles and bright vases, garlands of flowers and butterflies, the decor in the form of dragonflies and other insects are what you need for a spring mood.
